Solomon, What Went Wrong?

Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived next to Jesus. Someone with such vast wisdom from God would surely have been wise enough to avoid doing something that was void of wisdom. Or, would he? While Solomon enjoyed many years of God’s blessing, the seeds sown by his continual and blatant compromises grew into sin that bore destructive fruit later in his life.

We focus, and rightly so, on Solomon’s wisdom and greatness. We study the book of Proverbs to learn from Solomon, as we should. However, when we stop there, we miss realizing that great gifting does not guarantee protection from sin.

Solomon’s story should have had a beautiful ending, but the tragic turn of events later in his life leaves us asking; Solomon, what went wrong? His tragic story is one from which we should learn.
