New Testament Walking Passages

I like the name Christian as it refers to an individual who follows Jesus. The name is found in Acts 11:26, Acts 26:28, and 1 Peter 4:16. The biggest problem for us is that the name Christian has lost its edge; it feels like a stagnant and benign social description. The reality is that Christians are no more stagnant than a marathon runner is during a marathon. Following Jesus refers to a way of life.

I’m not recommending we change the name by which we refer to ourselves. I am, however, recommending we change the way we think about and approach the Christian life. The Christian life is one of following our Lord each moment. I want us to think about and adopt the active words used in the New Testament that describe living as a disciple of Jesus. For example, the first Christians frequently used words for walking to describe how we live as Jesus’ disciples.

This study contains a list of passages where the words walk, or step are used. The words often refer to walking, but they are often used to describe how Jesus’ disciples live.
