One of the primary themes of this letter from Paul is not mentioned enough, and it fits right in with our topic that Jesus makes all things new. This primary theme is that the Lord is at work in us.

This topic rises from Philippians 1:6 and Philippians 2:12-13 where Paul says that the Lord has begun a good work in us, and that because of this we can cooperate with him to work out our own salvation. He is working in us for his good purposes, and his good purposes are for our good.

This marries with our previous devotional where we saw that the Lord by His Spirit develops the fruit of the Spirit in us, but needs us to reject the desires and works of the flesh and keep in step with the Spirit.
