Paul devotes the book of Ephesians to describing what new life in Christ looks like.

We’ll look at Ephesians 2:1-10 in today’s devotional

On our own we are dead in our sin, trapped in the destructive flow of the world’s way of life, controlled by the devil, and children of wrath.

Paul is not being a fire and brimstone preacher. He’s setting the stage so we see how loves gracious and loving action to us overwhelms any evil. Paul’s focus is not on the depth of our sin and helplessness, it’s on the greatness of God’s grace, love, and salvation.

In describing the great salvation the Lord offers through Jesus, Paul tells us a number of reasons why Jesus came. Jesus came:
* while we were dead in sin, but Jesus came to bring us new life.
* to lead us into a right relationship with God, which is our salvation.
* Jesus came to save us, but even more to bring us to the place he intended for us in his presence through Jesus.
* Jesus came to bring us home to God.
* Jesus came to enable us to do good
